H M Sharan, born on November 4, 1936, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1982 batch of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. He holds postgraduate qualifications in Philosophy and graduate degrees in English Literature and Philosophy. Throughout his career, Sharan served in various capacities including District Collector, District Magistrate, Managing Director, Deputy Secretary, Joint Director, Director, Regional Controller, Joint Secretary, and Special Secretary. His most recent position was Special Secretary in the Public Works Department from July 1, 1992, to November 1, 1994.
