Girish Shankar, born on September 1, 1957, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1982 Bihar cadre. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Physics and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including Secretary, Special Secretary, Additional Secretary, Joint Secretary, Principal Secretary, Managing Director, Commissioner, Director, District Collector and Magistrate, Deputy Development Commissioner, Under Secretary, and Sub-Divisional Officer. His most recent position was Secretary in the Department of Heavy Industry from March 1, 2016, to August 31, 2017.
