G S Thakur, born on November 27, 1936, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1983 Bihar cadre. He holds graduate and postgraduate degrees in Geography. During his career, he served in various capacities including Junior Scale, Under Secretary, and Joint Secretary. His most recent position was Joint Secretary in the Department of Planning and Programme Implementation from March 1, 1993, to November 1, 1994.
