G R Rao, born on 25 May 1937, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1961 Gujarat cadre. He holds a graduate degree and a postgraduate degree in Economics. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including Assistant Collector, Deputy Secretary, District Collector, Deputy General Manager, Controller, Joint Secretary, Managing Director of the Urban Land Tribunal, and Deputy Secretary. His most recent position was Additional Chief Secretary in the Human Resources Department of Gujarat, from April 1992 to May 1995.
