Dr. Vinod R Rao, born on October 8, 1976, is an Indian Administrative Service officer of the 2000 batch from the Gujarat cadre. He holds a Ph.D. in Management and an M.A. in English Literature from Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, along with a Diploma in Journalism. Currently, he serves as the Principal Secretary in the Forest and Environment Department of Gujarat since December 22, 2025. His past roles include Principal Secretary to Government, District Collector, Director, Municipal Commissioner, and Secretary. Dr. Rao has received the Prime Minister’s Award for Technology Driven Transformation in School Education and the Best District Development Officer Award. He is proficient in English, Konkani, and Gujarati.
