Charulata Somal, an IAS officer of the 2012 Karnataka cadre, was born on July 3, 1988. She holds a B.A. Honours in Economics from Delhi University. Currently, she serves as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Personnel Training (DoPT) in New Delhi since June 17, 2023. Her previous roles include Deputy Secretary, Additional Resident Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner Cum District Magistrate, District Collector and Magistrate, State Mission Director, Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer of Smart City, Commissioner, Deputy Secretary to the Chief Minister, and Assistant Commissioner. She is proficient in English, Hindi, and Kannada.
