Chanchal Mal Bachhawat, born on June 7, 1958, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1983 West Bengal cadre. He holds an M.Phil. in Economic Development and a graduate degree in Commerce. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including District Magistrate, Executive Director, Managing Director, Joint Secretary, Commissioner, Principal Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, and Special Secretary. His most recent position was Secretary of the Consumer Affairs Department from June 3, 2016, to August 2, 2016. Mr. Bachhawat’s extensive administrative experience spans multiple senior roles within the West Bengal government.
