C Umashankar, born on 21 May 1964, is a 1990 batch IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre. He holds a B.Com. degree and is currently serving as the Additional Chief Secretary / Director at the Entrepreneurship Development and Innovative Institute, Chennai since 10 July 2023. Throughout his career, he has held various positions including Principal Secretary and Commissioner, Managing Director, District Collector, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Joint Commissioner, Additional Director, Additional Collector, Sub Collector, and Assistant Collector. He is proficient in English, Hindi, and Tamil.
