Basudeb Banerjee, born on June 7, 1957, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1983 batch of the West Bengal cadre. He holds a postgraduate degree and a graduate degree in Economics. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including District Magistrate, Executive Magistrate, Secretary, Principal Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, and Chairman. His most recent position was Chief Secretary to the Government of West Bengal, from December 30, 2015, to June 30, 2017. Banerjee’s extensive administrative experience spans multiple senior roles within the state government.
