Basant Garg, born on December 11, 1981, is a 2005 batch IAS officer of the Punjab cadre. He holds an M.B.B.S. from Punjab University, Chandigarh, an M.A. in Economics, and a P.G. in Urban Planning from IGNOU Delhi. Currently serving as the Administrative Secretary in the Department of Power, Punjab since October 30, 2025, he has held various positions including Finance Secretary, Additional CEO, PS to MOS, Director, Special Secretary, Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Chief Administrator, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and Sub Divisional Magistrate. He is proficient in English, French, Hindi, and Punjabi.
