Barun Kumar Ray, born on 19 February 1967, is a 1992 batch IAS officer of the West Bengal cadre. He holds an M.A. degree and is currently serving as the Additional Chief Secretary in the Non-Conventional and Renewable Energy Sources Department since 19 July 2024. Throughout his career, he has held various positions including Principal Secretary to Government, Commissioner, Secretary, Chairman and Managing Director, Managing Director, Private Secretary, Milk Commissioner, Under Secretary, Joint Secretary, District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, Officer on Special Duty to Minister, and Executive Magistrate. He is proficient in English and Hindi.
