Throughout his career, he held various key positions including Executive Director, Managing Director, Secretary, Special Commissioner, Regional Commissioner, Additional Secretary Director, Joint Secretary Director, Additional Commissioner Director, Director, Deputy Commissioner Director, Deputy Commissioner, Joint Commissioner, Chief Executive Officer, and Deputy Secretary. His most recent role was Ombudsman at Bangalore, Karnataka, serving from 6 April 2011 to 31 October 2011 in the State Electricity Regulatory Commission. Urs has contributed extensively to administrative services in Karnataka.
