Atanu Purkayastha, born on March 1, 1956, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1983 West Bengal cadre. He holds a B.Sc. and P.G. in Agriculture, and an M.B.A. from the University of Strathclyde. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including Additional District Magistrate, District Magistrate, Labour Commissioner, Registrar, Director, Joint Secretary, Special Secretary, and Secretary. His most recent position was Secretary in the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department from September 7, 2015, to February 29, 2016.
