Ashwani Kumar, born on January 1, 1968, is a 1992 batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre. He holds a B.E. in Electrical Engineering and an M.A. in International Development from Duke University. Currently, he serves as the Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary) at the Power Development Department, J&K, since February 23, 2026. Throughout his career, he has held various positions including Commissioner, Chief Secretary to Government, Principal Secretary, Secretary, Revenue Secretary, Divisional Commissioner, Chief Electoral Officer, and Deputy Secretary. He is proficient in English and Hindi and continues to serve in the Indian Administrative Service.
