Anita Karwal, an IAS officer of the 1988 Gujarat cadre, was born on 26 November 1962. She holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Zoology and a Diploma in French from the University of Delhi, and an L.L.B. in Law from MS University, Vadodara. Currently serving as Chairperson of the Gujarat Real Estate Regulatory Authority (GujRERA) since 25 July 2023, her past roles include Secretary, Additional Secretary, Joint Secretary, Principal Secretary to Government, Chief Electoral Officer, and District Collector, among others. She has received awards for Best Electoral Practices, Best District Collector, Best e-Governance Project, and the Dataquest e-Gov Champion Award.
