Amitava Bhattacharya, born on December 2, 1953, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1980 Gujarat cadre. He holds a postgraduate degree in Physics. Over his career, he served in various capacities including Chairman, Secretary, Principal Secretary (Appeals), Commissioner, Joint Secretary, Deputy Director General, and Executive Director (Vigilance). He was Chairman at Gujarat from December 10 to December 31, 2013. His roles also included Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and District Development Officer. He was associated with the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) during his service.
