Ambuj Sharma, born on 15 December 1958, is a retired IAS officer from the 1983 Tamil Nadu cadre. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Geology, an M.Sc. in Geology, and an MBA in Business Administration. Over his career, he served in various capacities including Assistant Collector, Sub Collector, Additional Collector, District Collector, Deputy Secretary, Joint Secretary, Director, Additional Director, Commissioner, Special Secretary, Secretary, and Additional Secretary. His most recent role was Additional Chief Secretary and Director in the Department of Commerce and Industry from 4 February 2016 to 31 December 2018.
