Alapan Bandopadhyay, born on 17 May 1961, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1987 West Bengal cadre. He holds a postgraduate degree and a graduate degree in Political Science. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including District Magistrate, Secretary, Principal Secretary, Chairman, and Additional Chief Secretary. His most recent position was Additional Chief Secretary in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department, commencing on 31 December 2018. His extensive experience spans multiple administrative roles, reflecting a long tenure in public service within the West Bengal government.
