Ajay Prakash Sawhney, born on 4 February 1962, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1984 Andhra Pradesh cadre. A graduate in Mechanical Engineering, he served in various capacities including District Collector and Magistrate, Chief Electoral Officer, and Managing Director. His past roles also include Joint Secretary, Special Secretary, Additional Secretary, and Private Secretary. Most notably, he was Secretary of the Electronics and Information Technology Department from 23 June 2017 to 28 February 2022. Throughout his career, Sawhney held significant administrative positions contributing to the governance of Andhra Pradesh and the central government.
