Gujarat Industries Minister Balwantsinh Rajput has announced that each taluka in every district of the state will be allowed to establish at least one industrial estate with the aim of providing employment to local youth and expanding business and employment in rural areas.
Making the announcement on Thursday, he said the state government has given priority to the expansion of industrial estates for micro, small and medium-sized (MSME) industries in the state.
In response to a question asked by MLAs in the Assembly regarding the government's plan to expand industrial estates, he said that if the earmarked government land is located near the urban area of a taluka, and has transportation facilities, a highway nearby and access to electricity, water and railways, the government will give priority to that taluka for that estate.
The Industries Minister said that new industrial estates are being set up in the remotest talukas of Gujarat, as a part of which seven plots and four sheds have already been allotted in Sankheda taluka of Chhota Udepur district, along with 10 plots and two sheds in Pavi Jetpur.
The Minister assured that the government is trying to ensure that no taluka in Gujarat is left without an industrial estate so that the local youth can get a livelihood. At present, there are a total of 239 industrial estates in the state, spread over 41,000 hectares of land. A total of 70,000 units have invested in these estates.
