Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the constitution of a High-Powered Task Force on Examination Reforms, appointing Infosys co-founder and Aadhaar architect Nandan Nilekani as its chairperson. The move comes as the Centre seeks to strengthen the credibility, transparency and technology architecture of India’s examination ecosystem.
The newly constituted task force brings together experts from diverse fields, including education, technology, national security, space and public administration, reflecting the government’s multi-disciplinary approach to overhauling examination systems.
Apart from Nilekani, the members of the panel are former Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, former ISRO Chairman S. Somnath, IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti, former Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy Anita Karwal, and logistics and governance expert Amrit Lal Meena.
The task force is expected to recommend comprehensive reforms aimed at enhancing examination security, leveraging advanced technologies to prevent malpractices, improving governance and operational efficiency, and restoring public confidence in competitive examinations. The inclusion of experts from intelligence, digital infrastructure, higher education and scientific institutions signals a strong focus on building a robust, technology-driven and future-ready examination framework.
The announcement follows growing concerns over examination integrity in recent years and underscores the Centre’s commitment to implementing systemic reforms to ensure fair, transparent and secure examinations across the country.
