Karnataka Cadre IPS Officer Pravin Pawar Appointed As CBI Joint Director

Pravin Pawar, a 2003-batch IPS of Karnataka cadre, has been appointed as joint director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a period of five years.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued a notification in this connection after approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by the prime minister.
The current CBI Director Praveen Sood is also from the Karnataka cadre and Pawar worked directly under him in the cadre.
Agency insiders described Pawar as a “trusted aide” of Sood.
They also say the Centre considered Pawar’s experience in the Enforcement Directorate during his previous central deputation for his selection in a key position in the CBI, a premier anti-grant agency of the Centre.
