Following north Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) in the Kutch–Saurashtra region on January 10, 2026. Stakeholders from within the country and across the globe will participate in the two-day event organised to promote industrial units in industrially backward regions, besides creating more employment opportunities.
As the Gujarat government has been reshaping its industrialisation roadmap, the success of the two-day conference will determine the outcome of the ambitious investment model for the State. The summit will focus on sectors such as Dholera SIR, ceramics, engineering, ports and logistics, fisheries, petrochemicals, agriculture and food processing, green energy, and tourism, among others.
State Industries Commissioner P. Swaroop stated that the State government adopted a path of balanced development and inclusive growth, as part of which representatives from foreign embassies of 20 countries — including Russia, Israel, Singapore, the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Uganda, Indonesia, New Zealand, Finland, Canada and the South Africa — participated in the regional conference conducted earlier at Mehsana in north Gujarat. Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) worth ₹2.24 lakh crore were signed during this summit.
At the upcoming edition of VGRC, the government expects double the investments from the earlier summit.
A senior official of the Industries Department said that the government identified sectors and initiatives to tap into for investments, including the Blue Revolution, seaweed farming, Kutch tourism, emerging AI-based solutions in marine fisheries, 5G monitoring systems, Morbi’s ceramic industry, Rajkot’s engineering industry, minerals, green energy, skill development, startups, MSMEs, and agriculture and food processing, among others.
The conference will place special emphasis on major industrial and trade hubs. Efforts will also be made to promote industrial development across Morbi, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Bhavnagar, Botad, Surendranagar, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, and Amreli.
Ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' Summit scheduled for January 2027, two more regional conferences will be organised. In April 2026, a south Gujarat (Surat) conference will open avenues for industries in chemicals and petrochemicals, textiles and apparel, gems and jewellery, tourism, and agro and food processing.
The regional conference to be held in central Gujarat (Vadodara) in June 2026 will focus on investments in sectors such as equipment and machinery, semiconductors, education and skilling, IT, pharmaceuticals, textiles and apparel, biotech, aerospace and defence, petrochemicals, auto and auto components, critical minerals, and tourism.
The government has accorded special importance to boosting local tourism. To develop new tourist destinations and improve the quality of existing ones, tourism development societies and governing councils/executive councils have been constituted across all 33 districts, and they will be chaired by the respective district collectors or municipal commissioners.
Each district will receive a grant of ₹10 crore from the State government.
