A major reshuffle has been carried out in the Gujarat Police Department, under which the State Home Department has issued transfer orders for 74 IPS and 20 SPS officers. Most of the officers transferred are of Superintendent of Police (SP) and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) rank. The government has also made significant changes in CID Crime.

Senior IPS officers have not been included in this reshuffle, but large-scale changes have taken place among DCPs across cities. CID Crime SP Dharmendra Sharma has been transferred, though his new posting has been kept pending. Shafeen Hasan, who was serving as DCP Traffic in Ahmedabad city, has been appointed as SP of Mahisagar district.

Meanwhile, Dr. Nidhi Thakur, who was Superintendent of Ahmedabad Central Jail, has been posted as DCP Zone-4 in Surat city. These transfer orders of police officers were issued by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, M.K. Das.

Manoj Agarwal named new DGP, CID Crime and Railways

Manoj Agarwal, a 1991-batch IPS officer, has been given a new responsibility in the Gujarat police setup. He has been transferred from his current role as Director, Civil Defence and Commandant General, Home Guards in Ahmedabad, and appointed as Director General of Police, CID (Crime and Railways), Gandhinagar. The appointment comes with an upgrade of the earlier Additional DGP post to that of full DGP rank, highlighting the importance Gujarat is placing on CID’s Crime and Railway operations.
