Gujarat Bureaucracy Gets Major Reshuffle: 28 IAS Officers Transferred

Energy and Petrochemicals Department witnesses multiple changes. Several key district administrations have also received a new leadership

The Gujarat Government on Monday carried out a significant reshuffle by transferring and appointing 28 IAS officers across key departments, public sector undertakings, municipal corporations and district administrations.

The General Administration Department (GAD) issued the notification on July 21, bringing major changes in the Energy, Urban Development, Rural Development, Skill Development, Social Justice, and Health sectors.

One of the key appointments is that of Prabhav Joshi, Municipal Commissioner of Junagadh Municipal Corporation, who has been posted as Joint Managing Director of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC). His place in Junagadh Municipal Corporation will be taken by I.R. Vala, who moves from the Sports Authority of Gujarat.

The Energy and Petrochemicals Department has witnessed multiple changes. Gaurangbhai H. Makwana has been appointed full-time Managing Director of UGVCL, while K.J. Rathod has been posted as Managing Director of DGVCL.

M.D. Chudasma has been appointed Managing Director of PGVCL, and D.K. Patel takes charge as Director of the Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA).

Several important district administrations have also received new leadership. H.J. Prajapati becomes District Development Officer (DDO), Amreli; K.P. Joshi takes over as DDO, Devbhumi Dwarka; D.K. Brahmbhatt becomes DDO, Gandhinagar; Hiren J. Barot is appointed DDO, Dahod; and K.S. Jhala has been posted as DDO, Dang-Ahwa.

In the urban administration, Suthar Raj Rameshchandra has been appointed Municipal Commissioner of Porbandar Municipal Corporation, while Smit Santosh Lodha, former DDO Dahod, has been transferred as Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Surat Municipal Corporation. R.N. Kuchara and C.A. Gandhi have been appointed Regional Commissioners of Municipalities for Rajkot and Vadodara regions, respectively.

The reshuffle also impacts key government corporations and institutions. M.P. Pandya has been appointed Managing Director of Gujarat Medical Services Corporation Ltd. (GMSCL), while B.K. Joshi becomes Registrar of Cooperative Societies. Mahesh Shantilal Jani has been posted as Mission Director of the Gujarat Urban Livelihood Mission (GULM). C.B. Ganatra takes over as Managing Director of Gujarat State Civil Supplies Corporation, and A.K. Joshi has been appointed Managing Director of Gujarat Unreserved Educational & Economical Development Corporation.

Among other notable appointments, M.K. Joshi has been posted as CEO of the Development Support Agency of Gujarat (D-SAG), Dr. B.S. Prajapati becomes Managing Director of Gujarat State Rural Development Corporation, A.K. Vastani has been appointed Director of Employment & Training, and P.B. Rathod has been posted as Director of Skill Development.

The transfer order reflects the government’s continued focus on strengthening administrative leadership across infrastructure, power distribution, urban governance, rural development and service delivery institutions through strategic redeployment of mid-level IAS officers.
