The Gujarat government has announced plans to invest Rs 7.5 lakh crore over the next decade to strengthen infrastructure in roads, irrigation, ports, transport, water, and energy supply sectors. To this end, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel unveiled the document Gujarat@75: Agenda for 2035.
As Gujarat completes 75 years of its establishment in 2035, this agenda has been launched to outline the state’s development roadmap for the next ten years. The objective is to accelerate progress in key areas such as health, education, skill development, entrepreneurship, infrastructure, and environmental sustainability.
Focus On Youth
Recognizing educated and skilled youth as the foundation of Gujarat’s growth, the state will focus on empowering them. By 2035, every child in Gujarat will have access to modern, future-oriented education. AI-based learning will be introduced in 7,500 schools, and 75 advanced skill institutes will be established, creating 7.5 million skilled jobs.
To promote clean energy and a greener future, the government plans to develop 750 sites as “urban lungs,” establish 7,500 Miyawaki forests, recycle 75% of municipal wastewater, and construct 75 iconic buildings. The state’s goal for the coming decade is to transition to green energy, with major initiatives including hydrogen plants, 75 GW of wind power generation, deployment of 7,500 electric buses, and extensive use of solar energy. By 2035, Gujarat aims to become India’s innovation powerhouse by fostering startups and entrepreneurship and scaling new heights in innovation and enterprise.
The plan focuses on the concept of “4I” — Infrastructure, Innovation, Individuals, and Institutions. The Agenda for 2035 provides a clear, result-oriented framework for policy formulation and implementation over the next decade.
The document has been prepared under the leadership of S. Aparna, Chairperson of the Gujarat State Institution for Transformation (GRIT). It includes active participation from GSIDS, GIDB, iHub, the Higher Education Department, and the Planning and ARTD divisions, among other government departments, institutions, and boards. GRIT functions as a policy think tank similar to NITI Aayog and recently announced a master plan proposing Rs 15 lakh crore investments across six regional economic zones of the state.
