Faiz Ahmed Kidwai Made Director General of Civil Aviation In A Reshuffle

Kidwai, a 1996-batch IAS officer of MP cadre, an additional secretary in Ministry of Agriculture has been appointed DGCA, while Ashutosh Agnihotri, Additional Secretary in the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has been named as the CMD of FCI

The government on Friday (January 3, 2024) appointed senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Faiz Ahmed Kidwai to head the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation as part of a senior-level bureaucratic reshuffle.

Kidwai, a 1996-batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, is currently holding the post of Additional Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

In an order the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) said, Kidwai has been appointed the Director General of the DGCA “in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to the Government of India by keeping the Recruitment Rules of the post in abeyance”.

Ashutosh Agnihotri, Additional Secretary in the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), has been named as the Chairman and Managing Director of Food Corporation of India (FCI), the DoPT said in its order.

Reshuffles in Other Ministries Too

Another Senior bureaucrat Akash Tripathi has been appointed Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Power. A 1998-batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, Tripathi, is currently holding the post of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), MyGoV, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology.

Kamal Kishore Soan, Additional Secretary in the Labour Ministry, will now be Additional Secretary & Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission, under the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation.

Shubha Thakur, Additional Secretary in the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, has been appointed Additional Secretary in the Inter-State Council Secretariat under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has also approved in-situ upgrade of the post held by senior IAS officer Vinay Kumar, currently Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. He has been made Additional Secretary in the ministry.
