Ex-Delhi Police Chief Satish Golchha Appointed DG (Home Guards), To Take Charge On October 1

According to an order issued by the Home Department of the Delhi government, Golcha, a 1992-batch AGMUT cadre officer, will serve as OSD until the superannuation of incumbent Director General (Home Guards) Virender Singh, an IPS officer of the 1991 batch, on September 30.

“Satish Golcha shall assume the charge of the Director General (Home Guards) with effect from October 1, 2026,” the order said.

The department also directed the Delhi Police to take Golcha on its strength and draw his salary against an available post until he assumes charge as DG, Home Guards.

Golcha’s latest posting comes weeks after he was removed as Delhi Police Commissioner on July 17, days ahead of a planned Parliament march on July 20 by youths under the banner of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) over the alleged paper leak issue. He was subsequently attached to the LG’s office.

Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau Anurag Kumar, a 1994-batch AGMUT officer, was shifted to Delhi Police as Golcha’s successor.

Golcha had taken charge as Delhi Police Commissioner after serving as Director General (Prisons), Delhi. During his career in the Delhi Police, he had also served as Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) and held several other senior and key assignments in the city force.

His appointment to the Home Guards comes as part of the latest reshuffle of senior IPS officers in the Delhi administration.
