The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has approved the appointment of four Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers to key positions in the Central Government under the Central Staffing Scheme. The Competent Authority has cleared the appointments, and the officers have been directed to join their new assignments in New Delhi immediately.
Among the appointments, Ajay Singh Tomer (IAS: Haryana Cadre, 2012 batch) has been appointed as Director in the Department of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare for a tenure of five years from the date of assuming charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Apurva Dubey (IAS: Uttar Pradesh Cadre, 2013 batch) has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of four years.
Similarly, Angel Bhati Chauhan (IAS: AGMUT Cadre, 2014 batch) has also been selected as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation for a tenure of four years.
In another order, Nipun Jindal (IAS: Himachal Pradesh Cadre, 2014 batch) has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, for a period of four years from the date of taking charge.
According to the DoPT orders issued on 16 July 2026, all four officers have been asked to be relieved from their present assignments immediately to enable them to take up their new responsibilities in the Central Government.
The DoPT has also reiterated that, as per the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) guidelines, officers appointed under the Central Staffing Scheme are required to join their new posts within three weeks of the issuance of the appointment order. Failure to do so may invite proceedings for debarment from the Central Staffing Scheme.
