A senior IPS officer of the 1993 batch of the Gujarat cadre, Malik has held key assignments across various districts and important police units in the state. Over the past few years, he has been leading the Ahmedabad City Police as Commissioner.

The leadership change is being viewed as significant from the perspective of law and order, cybersecurity, and technology-driven policing.

The Gujarat government’s decision is expected to usher in a new phase of leadership for the state police force.
