After NEET Storm, Bureaucrats Take Charge At NTA

IAS, IPS, and IRS officers take key roles at the National Testing Agency (NTA), strengthening the government's grip

Following the NEET paper leak and controversies over the credibility of examinations, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is now set to get a stronger dose of bureaucracy. The Centre has appointed officers from the IAS, IPS and IRS cadres to key positions in the examination body.

Anshuman Sharma, a 2005-batch Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) officer, has been appointed Joint Secretary in the NTA for a tenure of five years. In addition, Sathiya S, IPS officer Ravi Kumar Singh, and IAS officer Prasanna Venkatesh V have been appointed as Directors in the examination agency.

Strengthening the IRS presence further, Amit Samdariya, a 2016-batch Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Indirect Taxes) officer, has been selected for appointment as Joint Director in the NTA.

With questions being raised over the credibility, transparency, and management of the examination process, the Centre appears to be strengthening the NTA’s internal administrative machinery.
