ACC Extends Ravi Kumar Arora’s Central Deputation

Gujarat-Cadre IAS Officer to Continue as Joint Secretary in Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of the central deputation tenure of Ravi Kumar Arora, IAS (Gujarat Cadre: 2006 batch), allowing him to continue as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) until March 31, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The approval was issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) through an order dated August 6, 2026, following a proposal received from the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs.

According to the official notification, Arora’s extended tenure will be effective from August 5, 2026, to March 31, 2027, ensuring continuity in the functioning of one of the Union Government’s key ministries responsible for urban development, smart cities, housing, metro rail projects and municipal governance.

The extension was approved based on a proposal forwarded by the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs through its Office Memorandum dated July 27, 2026.

Ravi Kumar Arora, a 2006-batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer, has been serving as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, on central deputation. His continuation comes at a time when the ministry is implementing several flagship urban development programmes, including Smart Cities, PMAY-Urban, AMRUT, transit-oriented development and urban infrastructure reforms.

The DoPT order has been circulated to the Prime Minister’s Office, Cabinet Secretariat, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, the Chief Secretary of the Government of Gujarat and other concerned authorities for necessary action.
