Nidhi Chhibber Given Additional Charge As CEO, NITI Aayog

Nidhi Chhibber, 1994-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre, has been given additional charge as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), NITI Aayog.

Nidhi Chhibber is currently posted as Director General, Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office, NITI Aayog, in the rank of Special Secretary. She takes over from B V R Subrahmanyam, whose tenure extension ended on February 24.  

Chhibber is already empanelled to hold the post of Secretary in the Union government. She had previously served as Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Monitoring Flagship Schemes

At NITI Aayog’s Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO), Chhibber has been responsible for monitoring and evaluating flagship government schemes. She holds a Master’s degree in History and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.).

Subrahmanyam had taken charge as the CEO of Niti Aayog in February 2023. His appointment came as a replacement for Parameswaran Iyer. Subrahmanyam was granted a one-year extension by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), effective beyond February 24, 2025.

NITI Aayog serves as the apex public policy think tank of the Union government, and the nodal agency tasked with catalysing economic development and fostering cooperative federalism by engaging State governments.
