Gyanesh Kumar, born on 27 January 1964, is an Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1988 Kerala cadre. He holds a B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from IIT Kanpur, a CFA in Finance from ICFAI Hyderabad, and a postgraduate degree in Economics from Harvard University. Currently serving as Election Commissioner at the Election Commission of India, New Delhi since 31 January 2024, Kumar has held various positions including Secretary, Additional Secretary, Joint Secretary, Resident Commissioner, Project Director, Commissioner, Managing Director, District Collector, Director, and Private Secretary. He is proficient in English, Hindi, and Urdu.
