The longest serving Cabinet Secretary, Gauba, now a Member of the Niti Aayog, will play a crucial role in carving out the growth path for India. With an unprecedented rise in economic challenges, there is an urgent need to implement sweeping reforms and other policy measures to support businesses.
Gauba, with his extensive experience in governance and administrative reforms, is credited with the implementation of several transformative national initiatives.
The session will be a constructive tour through the intricacies and nitty-gritty of real-world governance and public administration.
All eyes are on India, not only the fastest-growing major economy but also home to 1.4 billion people. With headwinds – both from the domestic and international front coming up, policymakers will have to carve out effective measures to ensure that the growth story is not dented.
With India aiming to touch the Viksit Bharat status by 2047, the Gujarat government’s General Administration Department ARTD, in association with Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA), and The Secretariat, is organising a year-long lecture series with the aim of inducting the best practices and improving governance.
The lecture series is aimed at equipping professionals and aspiring bureaucrats with the optimal skillset to nurture their growth at the administrative front.
As part of the celebrations of the centenary birth year of late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Gujarat government aims to induct the leader’s thought and vision into governance.
The first of the lecture series was kicked off in July, with Soumya Kanti Ghosh, Member, Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council, and Chief Economic Adviser of the State Bank of India, delivering the address.
Ghosh had underlined that Vajpayee was instrumental in bringing a change in India’s mindset, with the concept of "can-do" mentality since the early 2000s.
Vajpayee comfortably and successfully ran a stable full-term government, with support from myriad political affiliations across the nation, enriching the idea of true Bhartiyata or Indianness. His political inclusivity was focused on deeply entrenched reforms and good governance, based on the concept of evolving requirements of efficiency, fairness, and ease of doing business warranted by free markets, while anchoring the quest for ‘Viksit Bharat,’ Ghosh had pointed out.
