The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Tuesday made public the cut offs at different stages of Civil Services Examination (CSE) for 2025 and the marks obtained by successful candidates, as topper Anuj Agnihotri, who is a graduate from AIIMS Jodhpur, secured 1,071 marks with a percentage of 52.88.
According to the results declared by the UPSC on Friday last week, a total of 958 candidates, including 659 men and 299 women, qualified for the examination.
Agnihotri got a total of 1,071 marks with a break-up of 867 in the main written exam and 204 in the personality test, according to the details released by the UPSC. The merit is determined out of the total of 2,025 marks, including 1,750 marks for the written or main exam, and the interview is of 275 marks.
As per the details, second-rank holder Rajeshwari Suve M (28) has got 52.69%, as she scored 1,067 marks with 865 in the written part and 202 in the interview. She, who has a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, got the second rank with sociology as her optional subject in her fifth attempt. Akansh Dhull, who secured third rank, scored 52.19% and got a total of 1,057 marks with 864 in the written and 193 in the interview.
Fourth and fifth rank achievers - Raghav Jhunjhunwala and Ishan Bhatnagar - have got 51.45% and 51.25% respectively. Jhunjhunwala, who has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Economics from the University of Delhi, got 1,042 marks (847 in the written and 195 in the interview), and Bhatnagar, who holds a BA LLB (Hons) from National Law University, Delhi, scored 1,038 (823 in the main exam and 215 in the interview).
The civil services (preliminary) examination, 2025, was conducted on May 25, last year. A total of 9,37,876 candidates applied for this examination, out of which 5,76,793 actually appeared in the test.
As many as 14,161 candidates qualified for appearance in the written (main) examination, which was held in August, 2025. Of these, 2,736 candidates qualified for the personality test (interview) of the examination, and finally, 958 candidates were recommended for appointment to various services, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and other central services.
The commission also released stage-wise cut-off marks for the Preliminary examination, Mains, and Final selection.
The Prelims cut-offs (GS Paper 1) were 92.66 for the General category, 89.34 for EWS, 92.00 for OBC, 84.00 for SC, and 82.66 for ST. The Mains cut-offs (written examination) were 739 for General, 706 for EWS, 717 for OBC, 700 for SC, and 694 for ST.
The final cut-offs, comprising both the written and interview, were 963 for General, 926 for EWS, 931 for OBC, 905 for SC, and 902 for ST. This meant that the difference between the highest and lowest category was merely 61 marks, and went on to suggest that the difference between the General and reserved categories is getting blurred.
The UPSC data showed that 5,76,793 candidates out of a total 9,37,876 applied for the CSE 2025 appeared for the preliminary examination, as 14,161 of them qualified for the Mains, and 2,736 candidates reached the interview stage. In the final list of successful candidates, 958 aspirants found their names.
Among the finally selected candidates, 317 are from the General category and 104 from the EWS category, 306 of them from the OBC category, 158 from the SC category, and 73 candidates from the ST category.
