UP's Administrative Chessboard Gets a New Layout with 20 IAS Transfers

Medical education, revenue, rural development, culture, power distribution and district administration witness major reshuffle as the Yogi Adityanath government realigns senior bureaucracy

The Uttar Pradesh government transferred 20 IAS officers, making changes across several key departments including medical education, revenue, rural development, culture, power distribution, taxation and district administration. The exercise is aimed at strengthening governance and improving administrative efficiency ahead of key government priorities.

In a significant late-night administrative, Sudha Verma, who was serving as Secretary, Revenue Department, has been appointed as the Labour Commissioner, Uttar Pradesh.  Dr Sarika Mohan, Director General and Secretary of the Medical Education Department, has been posted as Inspector General, Registration, while Neha Sharma, the outgoing Inspector General, Registration, will take over as Director General and Secretary, Medical Education Department.

In the mining department,  Arun Kumar, Additional Director, Geology and Mining, has been appointed as Mission Director of the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (UPSRLM). J. Reebha, Special Secretary in the Geology and Mining Department, has been given additional charge as Additional Director, Geology and Mining.

Within the culture department,  Deepa Ranjan has been shifted from Mission Director, UPSRLM, to Special Secretary, Culture Department.  Sanjay Kumar Singh, Special Secretary, Culture Department and Director, Charitable Works, has been given additional charge as Director, Culture, while Vishal Singh has been relieved of his responsibilities as Special Secretary and Director of Culture.

The power sector also witnessed changes.  Riya Kejriwal, Managing Director of Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (MVVNL), has been appointed as Special Secretary, Child Development and Nutrition Department. She will be replaced by Sandeep Bhagiya, who was serving as Additional Commissioner, State Tax, Gautam Buddha Nagar/Ghaziabad.

Several district-level postings were also reshuffled.  Parikshit Khatana, Chief Development Officer (CDO), Azamgarh, has been posted as Additional Commissioner, State Tax, Gautam Buddha Nagar, while Rakesh Kumar Patel, Additional Commissioner, Lucknow Division, will become the new CDO of Azamgarh.

In another key move,  Jag Pravesh, Municipal Commissioner of Mathura-Vrindavan Municipal Corporation, has been appointed as Special Secretary, Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department.  Ojaswi Raj, CDO of Ballia, has been appointed the new Municipal Commissioner of Mathura-Vrindavan, while Alok Kumar, Additional District Magistrate (Finance & Revenue), Gonda, has been posted as CDO, Ballia.

Further,  Ajay Kumar Gautam, CDO of Etawah, has been appointed Additional Commissioner, State Tax, Ghaziabad First, and Sanjay Kumar Singh, ADM (Administration), Muzaffarnagar, has been named the new CDO of Etawah.

The government has also posted Manikandan A., who was awaiting posting, as Additional Land Management Commissioner, Board of Revenue. Meanwhile,  Dr Vandana Verma, Special Secretary, Sugar Industry and Cane Development, has been assigned the additional charge of Joint Managing Director, Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Sugar Factories Federation Limited.  Renu Tiwari has been relieved from her responsibilities as Special Secretary, Child Development and Nutrition Department.

The latest reshuffle reflects the Uttar Pradesh government's continued administrative realignment, with experienced officers being repositioned in strategic governance, development and service delivery roles across the state.
