Telecom Secy Neeraj Mittal To Head MeitY For 5 Extra Days

The government on Monday issued a fresh order, extending the additional charge of the office of the Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), to Neeraj Mittal, who is the Secretary of the Department of Telecommunication.

In the order, the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) said, “The Competent Authority has approved continuation of additional charge of the post of Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to Neeraj Mittal, lAS (TN:1992), Secretary, Department of Telecommunications, up to June 11, 2025 during the period of absence on leave of S Krishnan, lAS (TN:1989).”

Initially, Krishnan, a 1989-batch IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, went on leave for five days, beginning June 2. In his place, the government had given the charge to Mittal, a 1992-batch IAS officer, also of the same cadre.

However, since Krishnan has extended his leave till June 11, the government has issued a fresh order, extending Mittal's temporary posting as the MeitY Secretary for another five days, officials said.

Mittal is a senior IAS officer, who, during his long career, has held a range of high-level positions in both state and central governments. He had served as Principal Secretary of Information Technology in Tamil Nadu, as well as a Senior Advisor at the World Bank, and as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
