Telecom Secy Neeraj Mittal given additional charge of MeitY

The decision to give additional charge to Mittal following MeitY Secretary S Krishnan’s absence due to leave for five days beginning June 2

In a temporary arrangement, the Centre on Monday decided to give additional charge of the Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to Neeraj Mittal, a 1992-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Tamil Nadu cadre. Mittal is currently holding the post of the Secretary, Department of Telecommunications under the Ministry of Communications.

The decision has been taken in view of incumbent MeitY Secretary S Krishnan, a 1989-batch IAS officer of Tamil Nadu cadre going on leave for five days beginning June 2, 2025.

In an order the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) said, “The Competent Authority has approved assignment of additional charge of the post of Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to Shri Neeraj Mittal, lAS (TN:1992), Secretary, Department of Telecommunications from 02.06.2025 to 06.06.2025 during the period of absence on leave of Shri S. Krishnan, lAS (TN. 1989).”

Mittal is a senior Indian Administrative Service officer, who during his long career has held a range of high-level positions in both the state and central governments. He had served as Principal Secretary of Information Technology, Government of Tamil Nadu. He also held the position of Senior Advisor at the World Bank and had served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
