Telangana Government Appoints New Police Chiefs For Hyderabad, Cyberabad And Rachakonda

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy previously appointed 1994-batch IPS officer B Shivadhar Reddy as the new Intelligence Chief of the state

In the first round of transfers and postings of IPS officers after a new administration took over in Telangana, the Revanth Reddy government on Tuesday appointed several new police chiefs, including for the state capital and power centre Hyderabad.

It also appointed new police commissioners for Cyberabad and Rachakonda.

According to an order issued by the State Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy, a 1994-batch IPS officer, has been made the new police chief of Hyderabad. He has been moved out of a non-executive role as Additional Director General (Organisation and Legal) in the police department.

Sreenivasa Reddy replaced Sandeep Shandilya (1993 batch), who has been posted as the Director of Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau.

G Sudheer Babu, a 2001-batch IPS officer, has been made the police commissioner of Rachakonda, a separate police commissionerate bordering Hyderabad. He was serving in Hyderabad City as Additional Commissioner of Police, managing the traffic department.

Avinash Mohanty, a 2005-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the police chief of Cyberabad, elevating him from the post of Joint Commissioner (Administration).

Incumbents Devendra Singh Chauhan (Rachakonda) and M Stephan Raveendra (Cyberabad) have been asked to report to the Office of the Director General of Police (DGP), Telangana.

Soon after taking over as the second Chief Minister of Telangana on December 7, Revanth Reddy appointed 1994-batch IPS officer B Shivadhar Reddy as the new Intelligence Chief of the state. He was also the first Intelligence Chief of Telangana, when the state was formed in 2014.
