Sunil Kumar Gupta, a 1987-batch IAS officer of the West Bengal cadre, has been re-employed as the secretary to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. Gupta was set to retire on December 31 but his tenure has been extended.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, which handles the management of personnel in the central administration, has approved Gupta’s re-employment on contract basis from January 1, 2024 on co-terminus basis with the tenure of the vice president or until further orders.
In August last year, Gupta was appointed as the secretary to Vice President Dhankhar, who earlier served as the Governor of West Bengal.
