The Gujarat government on Thursday transferred senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Dr (Mrs) Neeraja Gotru to the vacant post of head of the Police Recruitment Board in the state capital.
This was done as part of its efforts to further tone up the state administration.
According to the order, which was issued by MK Das, the Additional Chief Secretary in the Home Department of the state government in the name of the Governor of the state, Gotru has been asked to keep her current posting as additional charge.
In the order it is said that Gotru has been appointed by “downgrading the ex-cadre post of Director General of Police (DGP), Police Recruitment Board to ex-cadre post of Additional Director General of Police, the Police Recruitment Board”, in Gandhinagar, the state capital.
“Dr (Mrs) Gotru will also hold the additional charge of the post of Additional Director General of Police (Training) until further orders,” it read.
Gotru is known to be an accomplished IPS officer. During her long career of over 20 years in police service, she has held several significant positions, including the ADGP of the State Monitoring Cell and Special Commissioner of Police (Administration) in Ahmedabad.
She also served as Director General (DG) of Civil Defence and Commandant General of Home Guards in Gujarat, managing critical responsibilities in law enforcement and disaster preparedness.
She is also recognised for her integrity and professionalism. She played a pivotal role during investigations related to sensitive cases Her dedication to justice led her to take bold decisions, showcasing her commitment to upholding the law.
Gotru’s consistent performance and ability to handle complex assignments have made her a respected figure in policing circles in the state.
