In an administrative surgery of sorts, the Mohan Yadav government in Madhya Pradesh made a major bureaucratic reshuffle by transferring as many as 42 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, including those posted in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
This reshuffle exercise has been affected for the first time, this year after Anurag Jain, a 1989-batch IAS officer, was made Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh on September 30 last year, following his repatriation to the home cadre.
Among those who have been transferred are two significant names, 2008-batch IAS officer Bharat Yadav and 2009-batch IAS officer Abinash Lavania. Yadav and Lavania were serving as secretaries in the Chief Minister’s secretariat. They have been transferred as Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation and Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited, respectively.
The notification with regard to transferring the officers was issued late night on Monday.
It is learnt from officials in Bhopal that CM Yadav, who is currently on a four-day visit to Japan to woo investors, had given green signal to the exercise before he left for the tour on Monday.
This is the third major bureaucratic shakeup in the state government after Yadav assumed charge as CM in December 2023.
Besides Bharat Yadav, his batchmates Sibi Chakravarty and Lalit Kumar Dahima have been posted as secretaries in the CMO and member, Madhya Pradesh Revenue Board, respectively.
Similarly, four of Lavania’s batchmates have been shifted to different positions in the state. Priti Maithil has been made Commissioner-cum-Managing Director of the Horticulture and Food Processing Department, while Vandana Vaid has been posted as Director, Tribal Affairs.
Satyendra Singh, who was earlier the District Collector of Guna, has become the Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Co-operative Dairy Federation Ltd, while Manish Singh is now the Secretary, Department of Jail and Transport.
In the reshuffle exercise, the state government has shifted collectors of 12 districts, including Guna, Khargon, Sihor, Satna, Badwani, Tikamgarh, Raisen, Khandwa, Sheopur, Dewas Bhurhanpur and Dindori, to various other positions. The order also contains the names of several officers of the state public service commission (PSC) cadre, who have been transferred and given new assignments.
