“When once asked if I am ever under pressure from other countries heading towards sustainable development goals, I simply told them: yes, I am under pressure. But not of what other countries are doing, but what resources the next generation in my country would be served with”, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday while launching the 4th Edition of RE-INVEST meet at Gandhinagar.
With 40 plus sessions, 200 plus speakers, and 10,000 plus delegates, the three-day global conference is aimed at bringing together key players in the renewable energy sector.
The event will bring together government officials, industry leaders, investors, researchers, and policymakers.
The conference will delve into the future of energy, exploring trends, technologies, and policies shaping the global renewable energy landscape. This unique platform will foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and investment opportunities to advance India's renewable energy goals.
The first RE-INVEST India was held in 2015, the second was held in 2018 and the third RE-INVEST India was held in 2020. The RE-INVEST India events have been successful in attracting a large number of participants from India and abroad.
Through its expos, meets, and forums, RE-INVEST India plays a pivotal role in shaping the renewable energy landscape in India, said officials. It showcases India’s clean energy market and the Government’s efforts to scale up renewable energy capacity.
India has implemented a Rs 20,000 crore "Green Hydrogen Mission." Additionally, startups are encouraged to develop the best technologies related to reusing and recycling in India.
The event began with the inaugural session which hosted the Prime Minister as the key speaker, highlighting the fast-tracking of green energy his regime brought about.
He pointed out that the Indian government has launched a number of missions including Rooftop Solar – PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, Green Hydrogen Mission, Waste to Energy campaign, and India’s initiative of International Solar Alliance, in order to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy by the country during India’s G-20 Presidency.
He also mentioned thousands of Amrit Sarovar built in every village were being used for water conservation.
Gujarat is the host state for the conference while Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh are participating as Partner States. The inaugural session was followed by a felicitation ceremony and a Chief Ministerial Plenary.
An exhibition showcasing cutting-edge innovations from public and private sector companies, start-ups, and major industry players, underlining India’s commitment to a sustainable future, was set up on the sidelines of the conference.
Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Prahlad Joshi, noted that the tariff for grid-connected solar power plants has decreased by 76 per cent, and India’s installed renewable energy capacity has increased from 75.52 GW in 2014 to over 207.7 GW today, marking a 175 per cent rise in just ten years.
During this period, India’s total renewable energy generation has increased by 86 per cent, from 193.50 billion units to 360 billion units.
Various producers are expected to generate 570 GW of renewable energy by 2030, with active support from states, union territories, developers, manufacturers, and financial institutions.
