The Punjab government has made a major bureaucratic reshuffle and transferred seven IAS officers and assigned fresh responsibilities across key departments, including health, medical education, local bodies, higher education and industries.

Among the significant appointments, IAS officer Manjit Singh Brar has been posted as Secretary, Medical Education and Research, relieving Ghanshyam Thori of the additional charge he was holding. The move is expected to provide dedicated administrative leadership to a department central to the state's medical education and healthcare infrastructure.

Senior IAS officer Ghanshyam Thori has now been appointed Secretary, Local Bodies Department. With the new posting, he has been relieved of his responsibilities as Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, as well as the additional charge of Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM). He will now oversee urban governance, municipal administration and implementation of local body policies across Punjab.

In another key decision, IAS officer Sakshi Sawhney has been posted as Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM). Her services have been placed at the disposal of the Department of Health and Family Welfare for the assignment. Sawhney will continue to hold the additional charge of Chief Administrator, Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA). The appointment is aimed at strengthening the implementation of healthcare programmes and public health initiatives under the NHM.

IAS officer Kulwant Singh has been appointed Director, Higher Education. He was previously serving as Director, Local Bodies Department. His administrative experience is expected to support the government's efforts in educational reforms and institutional development.

Following his transfer, Harsuhinder Pal Singh has been assigned the charge of Director, Local Bodies Department, ensuring continuity in the functioning of the department responsible for municipal governance and urban development.

The government has also entrusted IAS officer Jaspreet Singh with the additional charge of Managing Director, Punjab Infotech, while he continues as Director, Industries and Commerce. Punjab Infotech plays a key role in promoting e-governance and digital transformation initiatives in the state. The additional responsibility is expected to enhance coordination between industrial growth strategies and technology-driven governance.

IAS officer Rubinder Singh Brar has been given multiple assignments under the reshuffle. His services have been placed at the disposal of the Department of Industries and Commerce for posting as Managing Director, Punjab Small Industries and Exports Corporation (PSIEC).

He has also been assigned the additional charge of Managing Director, Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation (PSIDC), relieving Harpreet Singh Sudan of the responsibility. In addition, Brar will serve as Additional Secretary, Local Bodies Department.

The latest appointments place Brar in a key position overseeing industrial promotion, infrastructure development and investment facilitation initiatives in the state.

The reshuffle reflects the Punjab Government’s effort to strengthen governance and improve administrative efficiency across critical sectors. The changes are aimed at ensuring focused leadership, better coordination and administrative continuity in departments that play a vital role in healthcare, urban development, higher education, industrial growth and digital governance.
