The Centre and the State governments have been working towards chalking out policies to simplify the regulatory process, ensuring that entrepreneurs and startups are not subjected to any hurdles, says TV Somanathan, Cabinet Secretary.

Delivering a speech during the 12th Chintan Shibir at Shrimad Rajchandra Ashram in Dharampur, Somanathan pointed out that the Central government, in view of the aim to make the country a developed nation by 2047, has been taking proactive steps in terms of economic growth, industry-friendly policies, and good governance.

Coordination between elected representatives and officials is crucial, he pointed out, as elected representatives reflect the will of the people, while officials ensure adherence to rules and procedures.

Improved Governance, Policies

With the right development policies, improved governance mechanisms, and strong coordination between the political leadership and the administrative system, India will achieve its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047, the Cabinet Secretary said, and added that India’s forex reserves were strong, inflation was under control, job creation was on the rise, and the fiscal position remained stable — all of which were positive indicators for holistic development.

He stated that over the past 10–12 years, millions of people have risen above the poverty line. These are the outcomes of citizen welfare-based policies, financial management, affordable housing under PM Awas, sanitation campaigns, and various social security schemes. The coordination between elected leaders and officials makes national development and public administration easier, smoother, and more citizen-centric.

Somanathan added that the establishment of numerous IITs, IIMs, and medical and nursing colleges across the country has created immense opportunities for youth in terms of employment and helped nurture the startup ecosystem.

Chintan Shibir, organised by the Gujarat government, is an initiative for Ministers and senior officials to provide guidance and present their ideas for administration and governance.
