PMO Adviser Tarun Kapoor Gets One-Year Extension

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Kapoor will continue in the rank and scale of Secretary to the Government of India for a further period of one year

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a one-year extension in the tenure of former IAS officer Tarun Kapoor (HP:1987, Retd.) as Adviser to the Prime Minister in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Kapoor will continue in the rank and scale of Secretary to the Government of India for a further period of one year with effect from June 10, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Kapoor, a retired Himachal Pradesh cadre IAS officer of the 1987 batch, has been serving as Adviser to the Prime Minister and has played a key role in policy matters relating to infrastructure, energy and economic development. The extension has been granted on a contractual basis under the existing terms and conditions.
