Pavan Kumar Malapati, 2012-batch Karnataka cadre IAS officer, brought on central deputation

The officer, a native of Andhra Pradesh, has been appointed Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Defence

The government has appointed 2012-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Karnataka cadre Pavan Kumar Malapati as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Defence under central staffing scheme.

In an order issued on Monday, the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) said, “…the Competent Authority has approved the appointment of Shri Pavan Kumar Malapati, lAS (KN: 2012) as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Delhi under the central staffing scheme for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier.”

In the order, the DoPT also directed him to immediately take up his new assignment in the Ministry of Defence . It went on to add that as per Appointments Committee of Cabinet’s (ACC) directions, an officer should join the post within three weeks from the date of issue of the appointment order, failing which “the process of debarment from the central staffing scheme shall be initiated”.

Malapati, a native of Andhra Pradesh, who is currently holding the post of Commissioner, Rural Development (MGNREGS) of the Karnataka government, has been brought to Delhi on central deputation and has been assigned the Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Defence.
