Odisha Makeover: 49 IAS Officers Transferred In Massive Reshuffle

Officials said the current reshuffle of senior administrative functionaries reflects the state government’s strategic move to strengthen governance across departments and districts

In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the Odisha government has issued an order carrying a significant overhaul of IAS officers posted in the state. They included 49 senior officers, who have now been given new assignments. 

Officials said the latest round of transfers reflects the state government’s strategic move to strengthen governance across departments and districts.

According to a notification from the General Administration and Public Grievance Department, Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra, currently serving as Principal Secretary of the Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department, has been appointed as the new Principal Secretary of the Finance Department. He will hold additional charge as Chairman of the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), replacing Saswata Mishra.

Hemant Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department and Chairman of IPICOL, will now lead the Information and Public Relations Department, succeeding Sanjay Kumar Singh.

Roopa Roshan Sahoo, the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) of the southern division, has been named Secretary to the Governor. She replaces NBS Rajput, who held the position as an additional charge. Rajput will continue as Principal Secretary of the Public Enterprises Department.

Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, currently Principal Secretary of the Sports and Youth Services Department and CMD of OPTCL, has been appointed as Principal Secretary of the Excise Department. He will continue to hold his OPTCL position.

Replacing him in the Sports Department will be Sachin Ramchandra Yadav, RDC of the northern division and CEO of the Western Odisha Development Council (WODC), who will retain both additional responsibilities.

Bhupendra Singh Poonia, Managing Director of IPICOL and Special Secretary of the Industries Department, will now serve as the Secretary of Skill Development and Technical Education. He will also continue to head IPICOL.

In another significant posting, B Parameswaram, RDC of the central division, has been appointed Secretary of the ST, SC Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Department.

Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar, who currently leads the Handlooms, Textiles, and Handicrafts Department, will replace Parameswaram as RDC of the central division.

D Prasanth Kumar Reddy, Director of Industries, has been named Secretary of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department. He will additionally serve as MD of IDCO.

Puri Collector Chanchal Rana will take over as the new Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), while Kirandeep Kaur Sahota, currently Sub-Collector of Gunupur, will assume the role of Commissioner of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC).

The state government has also appointed the following officers as new collectors in 15 districts: Raghuram Iyer (Kendrapara), Amrit Rituraj (Khurda), Jyoti Parida (Puri), Somesh Upadhyay (Malkangiri), Subhankar Mohapatra (Sundargarh), Keerthi Vasan V (Ganjam), Manoj Satyawan Mahajan (Koraput), Vedbhushan (Kandhamal), Ashutosh Kulkarni (Rayagada), Asish Ishwar Patil (Dhenkanal), Madhumita (Gajapati), Chavan Kumar Motiram (Jharsuguda), Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak (Boudh), Nruparaj Sahu (Sonepur), Ambar Kumar Kar (Jajpur).
