Nidhi Tewari Appointed Private Secretary To PM Modi

IFS Tewari has worked in the Prime Minister's Office as Deputy Secretary since November 2022

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has appointed Nidhi Tewari, a 2014-batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), as the Private Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Nidhi Tewari is a diplomat who has worked in the Prime Minister's Office as a Deputy Secretary since November 2022. Earlier she was working as an Under Secretary at Ministry of External Affairs’ Disarmament and International Security Affairs division.

According to the order issued, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Tewari’s appointment with immediate effect.

She is a young officer who has command over several languages and enjoys the trust of top echelons of the Indian bureaucracy, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Tiwari’s talent as a young officer was visible since her training days, when she won the ‘Ambassador Bimal Sanyal Memorial Prize’ in both categories — ‘Best Trainee” and ‘Best Dissertation’. She received the awards on May 16, 2016. 

The awardees are chosen and given by the Association of Indian Diplomats with the active support from the Foreign Service Institute of the Ministry of External Affairs and the family of late ambassador Bimal Sanyal, a distinguished member of the foreign service.
